In the following article we explain how to calculate quickly and easily the number of elastic putty cartridges needed to make the partial and perimeter expansion joints in any ceramic facing.
We will explain the calculation method using a concrete pavement as an example:
The calculation has four phases:
1st phase:
Choice of the elastic putty and definition of the volume of the cartridge. In this example we choose the SELLALASTIC with a cartridge volume V of 310 cm3.
Definition of the dimensions of the expansion joint:

G = expansion joint depth in cm.
A= width of the expansion joint in cm.
3rd phase:
Definition of the dimensions of the flooring and definition of the sizes of the interior partitions which will also be expansion joints together with the perimeter joints:

P= pavement length in ml.
k= length of interior partitions in ml.
X= pavement width in ml.
y= width of internal partitions in ml.
4th phase:
Calculation of the number N of SELLALASTIC cartridges required to fill the perimeter joints and the joints of the interior partitions:
N = (100*A*G*( P*X*(k + y) + k*y*(P + X) ) ) / ( V*k*y) = (100*1*0,5*( 28*21*(7+3) + 7*3*(28+21) ) ) / (310*7*3) = 53 uts of 310cm3 SELLALASTIC cartridges.
